Rath Yatra embarks in Puri

The Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra, one of India’s greatest religious festivals, is in the temple town in Odisha amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Supreme Court, this year people will not be allowed to celebrate as it was celebrated last year. A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, said in its order that each chariot would be pulled by not more than 500 people, including officials and police, and there has to be an interval of one hour between pulling of the chariots.

Yes Bank has collaborated with “Affordplan” a fintech startup to launch ‘Swasth Card’, a co-branded healthcare card, under Swasth program. YES BANK’s wallet has also been integrated on Affordplan Swasth to enable wallet QR scan for making payments to merchant partners empanelled on the Affordplan Swasth app. Equipped with a chip-enabled card, digital wallet, goal-based savings, loans, and insurance, Swasth program extends access to a family seeking curative as well as preventive care.

ISRO receives patent for “Liquid Cooling and Heating Garment”

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has received a patent for its Liquid Cooling and Heating Garment (LCHG). Liquid Cooling and Heating Garment (LCHG) is a protective garment for human spaceflight. It is a close-fitting long garment that covers the torso as well as the limbs from neck to toe as a single piece lightweight comfort inner-wear. The flight suit has to be worn by the astronauts over the LCHG. The garment permits the long term use without any impact on the wearer in terms of skin irritation or infection.

Movie producer Steve Bing passes away

A movie producer & philanthropist, Steve Bing passed away. He produced films such as Get Carter and Every Breath, and also wrote the screenplay for movie Kangaroo Jack.

Major General (Retd) Lachhman Singh Lehl passes away

Major General (Retd) Lachhman Singh Lehl passed away. He was one of India’s finest military brains and one of its last surviving officers to have taken part in both the 1948 and 1971 wars. He was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in 1943.
