Autistic Pride Day: 18th June

Autistic Pride Day is celebrated on 18th June. This day is observed to respect the rights of persons with autism. In 2005, the first autistic pride day was celebrated in Brazil by the Aspies For Freedom (AFF) created by Gareth & Amy Nelson and became a global event. Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication.

World Refugee Day celebrated on 20 June

The theme of World Refugee Day 2020 is “Every Action Counts”.

International Day of Yoga

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his UN address suggested the date of 21 June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.

Health Minister Mr Harsh Vardhan launched India’s 1st Mobile Lab for COVID-19

Indian Health Minister, Mr Harsh Vardhan has launched India’s first mobile lab for COVID-19 testing. I-Lab is capable of conducting both COVID-19 and non-COVID tests and give results the same day.

India to become UNSC President for August, 2021

India has been elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and will serve as the President of the UN body for the month of August 2021 as the presidency of the United Nations Security Council is held by each of the members in turn for one month as per the English alphabetical order of names of the member states. As per the rules, India will allow the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of August 2021.

Union Minister launches R&D Portal “SATYABHAMA”

Union Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi has launched R&D Portal “Science and Technology Yojana for Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Mining Advancement (SATYABHAMA)” for Science and Technology Programme Scheme of Ministry of Mines. The portal will increase efficiency as well as effectiveness in the implementation of the Scheme. The R&D Portal SATYABHAMA has been designed, developed and implemented by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Mines Informatics Division. It has been integrated with NGO Darpan Portal of NITI Aayog.

Karnataka Government observes “Mask Day” on 18 June

Karnataka government celebrated “Mask Day” on 18 June 2020 to know the people about the value of masks, sanitisers, washing hands with soap in order to control the expanse of coronavirus in the state.

Government of Karnataka made a walk which highlighted the participation of public representatives, dignitaries and medical staff. Through the march, the participants spread awareness among the people about the national directives issued to contain the COVID-19.

Manipur celebrated 19th Great June Uprising Day

The 19th Great June Uprising Day was commemorated on 18th June at Kekrupat, Manipur to pay applause and honour to 18 souls who lost their lives in June 2001 to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur. On the occasion, family members of the 18 martyrs and leaders of some organisations paid floral tribute & respect to 18 persons at Kekrupat, Manipur.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) reaches $150-billion market valuation mark

The Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) become India’s first $150-billion company in terms of market capitalisation after entering in $150billion mark in term of market capitalisation. It achieved this milestone when its share price had gained 6.23% to close at Rs 1,759, taking its market capitalisation to Rs 11.15 lakh crore i.e. around $150 billion.

Bank of Baroda to completely digitize its lending operations

Bank of Baroda will fully digitize its lending operations including home, agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), personal and auto loans. The validation and disbursal of fresh loans will happen via this digital platform while past loans will also be digitised to cut costs and improve profitability. The bank is planning to digitise a large proportion of its retail and MSME processes in the next six months.

British Petroleum to set up Global Business Service Centre in Pune

“British Petroleum” a United Kingdom oil major is working to set up Global Business Service Centre in Pune, Maharashtra to support its global businesses. According to the report, the operation will start in January 2021. The centre will employ around 2000 people and provide business processing as well as advanced analytics capabilities in support of British Petroleum businesses worldwide.

Karnataka Bank launches health insurance to cover COVID-19 pandemic

A special health insurance policy has been launched by the Karnataka Bank in association with Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Ltd to cover the uncertainties posed by coronavirus outbreak. Under this health insurance policy, an individual can avail health cover for COVID-19 at a nominal premium of Rs 399, with the validity period of 120 days. The health insurance policy will cover COVID-19 pandemic related health expenses such as in-patient hospital expenses of up to Rs 3.00 lakh, outpatient treatment expenses of Rs 3000 and will also offer a sum of Rs 1000 per day towards expenses incurred towards 14 days of quarantine at a government or military hospital.

“SARAL” scheme launched by ICICI Home Finance for an affordable house loan

ICICI Home Finance has launched an affordable housing loan scheme. The scheme intends to fund homes in urban and rural areas. The housing loan scheme provides affordable housing loans up to Rs 35 lakh at an interest rate starting from 7.98% for a maximum tenure of 20 years.

International Workshop on “Good Governance Practices in a Pandemic for International Civil Servants” was introduced by the Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Jitendra Singh. It was founded by Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs and National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). It is a two-day convention in which approx 81 International Civil Servants from 16 Countries will participate.

Mumbai gets ‘Air-Venti’ App to provide information on ICU beds, ventilators

Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has launched a mobile application “Air-Venti” to provide information on ICU beds, ventilators. Octaware Technologies Limited, in partnership with Probity Soft Pvt Ltd, has developed this mobile application for MCGM. ‘Air-Venti’ was launched by the civic body in Mumbai and it aims to supply overall statistics of ICU beds and ventilators that are occupied and vacant in both government and private hospitals.
