World Zoonoses Day
World Zoonoses Day is observed every year on 06th July. This day is celebrated from July 6, 1885, when Louis Pasteur successfully administered the first vaccine against Rabies virus, a zoonotic disease. Zoonoses are a disease which can be transmitted from animals to humans.
IBC celebrated “Dharma Chakra Day” on 4th July
Dharma Chakra Day was celebrated by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), under the aegis of Ministry of Culture on 4th July. This day commemorates Buddha’s First Sermon to his first five ascetic disciples at the Deer Park, Rsipatana in the present-day Sarnath near Varanasi, UP. The day is also observed as Guru Poornima by both Buddhists as well as Hindus as a day to mark reverence to their Gurus.

Centre Approves Rs 574 Crore Annual Plan For National Highway In Jammu And Kashmir
The central government has approved an annual plan worth Rs 574.16 crore for national highway works in Jammu and Kashmir for 2020-21. The major works incorporated in the approved annual plan included the construction of 3.23 km three fly-overs in Srinagar on NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar highway) at Bemina, Sanatnagar and Nowgam with Rs 220.68 crore.
The other works incorporated in the approved annual plan included expressway, four lane, construction of 6 km 3rd bypass on NH-444 Shopian bypass with Rs 120 crore, and construction of 13.60 km bypass in Pulwama and Kulgam with Rs 62.98 crore.

M. Venkiah Naidu launches social media super app ‘Elyments’
Vice President of India, M. Venkiah Naidu has launched India’s first social media application, “Elyments”. It is a first Made-in-India social media super-app, developed by Bengaluru-based software company, Sumeru Software Solutions Pvt Ltd, in close competition with similar platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram. This application is available in eight languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and English. It allows users to stay in touch through a vibrant feed, free audio/video calls, and private/group chats.

UP Government launches “Mission Vriksharopan-2020” drive
A campaign “Mission Vriksharopan-2020” has been launched by the Uttar Pradesh government. Under this campaign, more than 25 crore saplings were planted on 5th July in Uttar Pradesh. The tree plantation drive was launched on the occasion of Guru Poornima and hence several people were seen planting saplings to pay respect to their mentors.

Delhi government to set up a COVID-19 war room to monitor the situation in the national capital
The Delhi government will set up a ‘COVID-19 War Room’, which will 24×7 monitor the city’s fight against thenovel coronavirus, and suggest measures to effectively deal with the prevailing situation.
The ‘COVID-19 War Room’, which is being set up at the Delhi Secretariat, will be manned by around 25 experts. It is expected to become operational in the next few days.

Odisha Govt launches ‘Balaram Yojana’ to provide crop loan
Odisha government has launched ‘Balaram Yojana’ to provide crop loans to landless farmers. Under the new scheme, the landless cultivators will get loans through joint liability groups (JLGs). Under this scheme, the government has set a target to provide farm loans to 7 lakh landless farmers in the next two years. The Institute on Management of Agricultural Extension (IMAGE) will coordinate to implement the scheme at the state level, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) will coordinate at the district level.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh launches web portal to share COVID-19 related stories, activities
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh launched a website (www.manipurcovidstories.org) to share COVID-19 related stories and information in the state.
The web portal will also work as a tool to monitor volunteering activities in the state by different stakeholders and acknowledge the people’s involvement in the fight against the pandemic.
The website, which is managed by the department of health and family welfare and conceptualised and designed by Fluorescence Communications, will have sections of stories in the form of texts, photo features and videos.

Delhi Government launches e-learning portal “LEAD”
Delhi Government has launched an e-learning portal name as “Learning through E-Resources Made Accessible for Delhi (LEAD)”. The portal has been developed by the Delhi government and comprises of 10,000 instructional materials and course content for students of Classes I to XII. The Delhi government will also share its teaching-learning material on the digital platform “DIKSHA” through its e-learning portal “LEAD”. The portal will offer students access to textbooks, study material and course content as per the syllabus of the CBSE, NCERT and Delhi government’s curriculum online.

CBSE tie-up with Facebook to introduce curriculum on digital safety
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has partnered with Facebook to launch a free and comprehensive training program for teachers and students of its affiliated schools in the first phase. The program will cover teacher training on augmented reality and student training on digital safety and online well- being. In the second phase, CBSE will introduce the training program on digital safety and augmented reality for 30 thousand students in each category.

Gujarat’s Zoya Khan becomes the first transgender operator of the Common Service Centre in India
Zoya Khan from the Vadodara district of Gujarat became the first transgender operator of the Common Service Centre in India. She aims to uplift the transgender community by making them digitally literate.
She has started CSC work with Telemedicine consultation. Common Service Centres are facilities provided by the Government of India for delivering e-Services to rural and remote locations where availability of computers and Internet was negligible or mostly absent.

HDFC Bank to offer ‘ZipDrive’ online instant auto loans
HDFC Bank offers instant car loans to existing customers through an initiative called “ZipDrive” in 1,000 cities. This solution gives the customer with a pre-approved loan offer to avail an auto loan through net banking or via assistance from the bank’s phone banking team. It is a technology-enabled loan product where credit assessment is done by banking software.

Tollywood producer Pokuri Rama Rao passes away due to coronavirus
Telugu film producer Pokuri Rama Rao passed away due to COVID-19. He was 65. Pokuri Rama Rao is the brother of producer Pokuri Babu Rao of Eetharam Films and has films like Ranam (2006), Ontari (2008), Yagnam (2004) to his credit as a presenter.
