Muslim Women Rights Day
After providing the decision on triple talaq the government of Mr PM Modi is commemorating July 31 as Muslim Women Rights Day, marking the first anniversary of the passage of the anti-triple talaq law in Parliament.
The law, formally called the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, was passed in last year after intense debates in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, with opposition parties stating it targeted the Muslim community even as the Centre asserted that it would help achieve gender justice for Muslim women.
World Ranger Day
World Ranger Day is commemorated on 31 July to honour Rangers killed or injured in the line of duty and to celebrate the work Rangers do to protect the world’s natural and cultural heritage. It is promoted by the 54-member Association of the International Ranger Federation(IRF).
National Mountain Climbing Day
National Mountain Climbing Day is celebrated on August 1 every year. The adventurous day was established in honour of Bobby Matthews and his friend Josh Madigan, who successfully climbed the 46 high peaks of New York State’s Adirondack Mountains.
World Breastfeeding Week
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. World Breastfeeding Week first time was celebrated in 1992. The theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2020 is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet”.

SIDBI & TransUnion CIBIL launches portal “MSMESaksham”
The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has launched a knowledge portal called “MSMESaksham” in fellowship with TransUnion CIBIL. The platform has been launched for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
MSMESaksham is a complete financial education and knowledge platform for MSMEs and will support them in managing their credit commitments. MSMESaksham will provide MSMEs quick access to economics and empower them by making them financially knowledgeable and loan-ready so that timely and affordable financial help is realised.
Odisha CM Launches Online Portal To Issue Fire Safety Certificates
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the Odisha Agni-Shama Seva online portal for issuance of fire safety certificates to different categories of buildings through online mode.
As many as eight services would be available to the public through online mode. He asked the Fire Service Department to include all other services by October 2 this year. This will enhance efficiency, improve transparency and help provide timely services without actual human interaction.
Fire service is a priority area of the Government under 5T Initiatives that aim at bringing transformation in governance through parameters of technology, teamwork, transparency and time.

Madhya Pradesh to begin ‘Ek Mask-Anek Zindagi’ public awareness campaign
A public awareness campaign called ‘Ek Mask-Anek Zindagi’ means one mask-many life will be conducted till August 15 in many districts of Madhya Pradesh.
During this campaign, people will be informed about measures to prevent COVID-19 infection. The Municipal Corporation will also run a public awareness chariot in the city on the same theme. Khandwa Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Bhatt stated that masks are the simplest and most effective means to prevent Corona infection.
The Mask Bank will also be established under the Ek Mask-Anek Zindgi Campaign. In this mask bank, masks will be collected from donors and distributed free of cost to the poor people.

NASA & ULA launched Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover Mission
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has launched “Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission” with United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket to the Red Planet “Mars”. The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission was launched from Space Launch Complex 41, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The Perseverance rover is part of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program which is a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the Red Planet. The ULA Atlas V’s Centaur upper stage will initially place the Mars 2020 spacecraft into a parking orbit around Earth. NASA has launched the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission to search for signs of ancient life and collect samples to send back to Earth.

Hamed Bakayoko named as Prime Minister of Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast’s Defence Minister, Hamed Bakayoko has been named as the Prime Minister of the country. Bakayoko was presently serving as the as interim PM of the country since the sudden death of former Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly. Bakayoko was a founding member of the Rally of the Republicans (RDR) party and was also in charge of the party’s daily newspaper, Le Patriote.

Wrestler Babita Phogat, kabaddi player Kavita are Haryana sports deputy directors
Haryana government has decided to appoint Olympian wrestler Babita Phogat and kabaddi player Kumari Kavita Devi as deputy directors (sports) under the outstanding sports person category.
Kavita, who hails from Padana village of Jind district, was a part of the Indian women kabaddi team that won gold in the 2014 Asian Games. The achievements of Olympian wrestler Babita’s family, based at Balali village of Charkhi Dadri district, had inspired Bollywood film ‘Dangal’.

Canara Bank has tied-up with three insurance companies to sell short-term Corona Kavach policy to cover COVID-19 related health expenses. The bank has tied up with New India Assurance Company Ltd, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co Ltd and HDFC ERGO Health Insurance.

Russia chaired 6th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meetin
The 6th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting was held under the presidency of Russia. The Environment Ministers of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Russian Federation, the Republic of India, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of South Africa participated in the meeting held via the video conference.
India will host the next meeting in 2021. Union Environment Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar represented India in the BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meet.
During the meet, the minister highlighted the efforts made by India in controlling Air pollution such as the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) which was launched in 2019.

Obituaries
Former Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui passes away
Former Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui passed away. He served as president of Taiwan from 1988 to 2000. He was also considered as the “father of Taiwan’s democracy”.
Lee Teng-hui became president in 1988 after the demise of the predecessor, Chiang Ching-Kuo. Lee also led constitutional changes towards a democratic political layout, including direct presidential elections.
