The Hindu English Vocabulary

STULTIFY (verb) वृथा करना

  • Meaning: cause to lose enthusiasm and initiative, especially as a result of a tedious or restrictive routine.
  • अर्थ: विशेष रूप से थकाऊ या प्रतिबंधात्मक दिनचर्या के परिणामस्वरूप उत्साह और पहल को खोने का कारण।
  • Synonyms: hamper, impede, obstruct, thwart, suppress, smother, repress, counteract, trammel, restrain.
  • Antonyms: consolidate, augment, glorify, exacerbate, exalt, stir, elevate, accentuate, strengthen.
  • Usage: By referencing actual statistics, he was able to stultify his opponent’s argument.

NIHILISM (noun) शून्यवाद

  • Meaning: the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.
  • अर्थ: सभी धार्मिक और नैतिक सिद्धांतों की अस्वीकृति, इस विश्वास में कि जीवन निरर्थक है।
  • Synonyms: cynicism, rejection, repudiation, abnegation, disbelief, skepticism.

BADINAGE (noun) परिहास

  • Meaning: humorous or witty conversation.

MELLOW (adjective) मधुर

  • Antonyms: uplift, ennoble
  • Example: Currency debasement means that the more dollars there are in circulation, the less each dollar is worth.

ENSCONCE (Verb) : स्थापित करना

  • Meaning: establish or settle (someone) in a comfortable, safe place.
  • अर्थ: किसी आरामदायक, सुरक्षित जगह पर (किसी को) स्थापित या बसाना।
  • Synonyms: settle, install, establish, entrench
  • Antonyms: depart, displace

REPRISAL(Noun) :प्रतिहिंसा

  • Meaning: an act of retaliation.
  • अर्थ: प्रतिशोध का एक कार्य।

CULMINATION (noun) : परिणति 

  • Meaning: the highest or climactic point of something, especially as attained after a long time.
  • अर्थ: किसी चीज का उच्चतम या चरम बिंदु, विशेष रूप से लंबे समय के बाद प्राप्त किया जाता है।
  • Synonym: climax, pinnacle, peak.
  • Antonym: nadir, base, bottom.
  • Usage: Their arrest was the culmination of an operation in which 120 other people were detained.
