1)  usher (verb) – प्रवेशक

Meaning: A person who provides instruction or education; A sign or warning of something to come

Synonyms: precursorheraldleadconductescort

Antonyms: cease, close, end

Usage:  Let it not be forgotten that Mrs Indira Gandhi had Young Turks to usher in her socialist programmes after 1969

2) bane (verb) – व्यथा

Meaning: A cause of great distress or annoyance; Physical harm that impairs the value, usefulness, or normal function of something

Synonyms: damage, harm, malice, spite

Antonyms: blessing, benefit, ,benevolence, friendliness

Usage: The bane of the Congress leadership has been its reluctance to develop a second line of leadership that is independent of the Gandhi dynasty.

3) simmer (verb) – उबाल

Meaning: To cook in liquid; Become burnt when exposed to heat or a flame

Synonyms; churns, cooks, scorches, parches

Antonyms– cools, freezes, soothes

4) veneer (verb) – मुखावरण

Meaning: An attractive appearance that covers or disguises someone or something’s true nature or feelings; To provide assuagement or palliation to; To keep secret or cover the truth of

Synonyms: palliate, relieve, ease, covering,  facing, facade, front, camouflage, dissemble

Antonyms: reality, truth, character, inside, interior, reveal, strip, uncover

Usage: In a society where a feudal sense of entitlement simmers beneath a veneer of economic modernity, aspirational upper castes with bottled-up resentments are legion in every domain.

5) legion (noun) – सेना

Meaning: Great in number; Diverse in character or content

Synonyms:  numerous, countless, many, heterogeneous, mixed, varied

Antonyms: few, numbered, scarce

Usage:  In a society where a feudal sense of entitlement simmers beneath a veneer of economic modernity, aspirational upper castes with bottled-up resentments are legion in every domain.

6) Accentuate (noun) – ऐसे दबाव का चिह्न करना

Meaning:  Make more noticeable or prominent; to increase in degree, amount, size, or value

Synonyms: intensify, enhance, magnify, strengthen

Antonyms: camouflage, blanket, enshroud, downplay, understate, cover

Usage: He also uplit the upper facades of the building to accentuate the tower’s verticality.

7) diction (noun) – उच्चारण

Meaning:  The choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing; The style of enunciation in speaking or singing

Synonyms: articulation, enunciation, delivery, phraseology, language

Antonyms: quiet, silence, standard

Usage: The Dalit movement in north India is habituated in using caste-based binaries in its mobilisation language but has failed to respond to the changing political.

8) Cavalier (Adj) – घमंडी

Meaning: Showing haughty disregard; A man of honor and gentility; Poorly considered or thought out; Boisterous and unruly

Synonyms: careless, imprudent, rumbustious, boisterous

Antonyms: humble, lowly, modest, frugal, thrifty, economical, passionate, determined, persistent

Usage: The move taken by British is considered as Cavalier action.

9) Stoking (verb) – ईधन झोंकना

Meaning:  to poke, pierce, thrust; to affect with powerful emotion

Synonyms: sending, exciting, moving, augmenting, boosting

Antonyms: abating, decreasing, downscaling, easing

Usage: They share comparable traits of mistrusting expert knowledge, stoking suspicion about formal institutions, stirring up their social base of hardcore,

10) Lingering (verb) – सुस्त

Meaning: lasting for a long time or slow to end.

Synonyms: niggling, gnawing, lasting, residual, protracted, persistent, prolonged.

Antonyms: short live, leave, intermittent

Usage: Notwithstanding lingering criticism that the Supreme Court’s intervention, on its motion, may have come too late
