European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) established the day as Wind Day in the year 2007.

The day was officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2011.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has become the first development division to go “fully Digital”. NHAI has launched cloud-based and Artificial Intelligence-powered Big Data Analytics platform – Data Lake and Project Management Software considering the dangerous coronavirus pandemic.

UP govt starts “Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana” to educate child labourers
On the occasion of the International Child Labour Prohibition Day, Uttar Pradesh Cheif Yogi Adityanath has launched ‘Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana’ to educate child labourers in the state. The government will give monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,200 to selected boys and girls, respectively.

Flood warning system “iFLOWS” launched in Mumbai
State of the art flood warning system “iFLOWS” has been started in Mumbai. I-FLOWS consists of seven modules: Data Assimilation, Flood, Inundation, Vulnerability, Risk, Dissemination Module and Decision Support System. The system will enable Mumbai to predict floods three days before they happen and will make it more resilient as it will provide early signs of the forthcoming danger during high rainfall and cyclone events.

Indian-American scientist Rattan Lal wins World Food Prize 2020
Rattan Lal who won the World Food Prize 2020. He has been awarded for developing and mainstreaming a soil-centric approach to increasing food production that conserves natural resources and mitigates climate change. He will receive USD 250,000 as prize money.

Veteran Urdu poet Gulzar Dehlvi passes away
Veteran Urdu poet, Anand Mohan Zutshi Gulzar Dehlvi passed away. He was the editor of ‘Science ki Duniya’, the only science magazine published in Urdu by the government, which was launched in 1975. He is also credited with setting up Urdu schools across India. He was also associated with the freedom movement since the ’30s when he was in school.
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput passes away
Bollywood Actor Sushant Singh Rajput passed away. He made his Bollywood debut with the 2013 movie “Kai Po Che!” and was famous for his role in 2016 hit MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
SAIL director Atul Srivastava passes away
Atul Srivastava, Director of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) passed away. He assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of SAIL on March 12, 2018. During his entire career, he had led Personnel and Administrative functions at SAIL’s Bokaro and Durgapur Steel Plants and also at its Corporate Office.
India’s oldest first class cricketer Vasant Raiji passes away
India’s oldest First Class cricketer Vasant Raiji passed away at the age of 100. He was a right-handed batsman and played nine First-Class games in the 1940s and scored 277 runs. He was also a founding member of Jolly Cricket Club in Mumbai.
